The Forex Vs Stock Market debate is a very broad one, since both markets are great ways to make money and both industries have a wide number of professionals who make a living trading one or the other. If you’re more of a buy and hold a type of investor, stocks are probably better for your style. A leverage ratio of 1:100 will allow you to control $100,000 in the market with only $1000 of your capital. It’s not uncommon for brokers to offer leverages up to 1:500 which means you can control $100,000 worth of currency with only $200. Which is Better for You? Whether stock trading or forex trading is better for you largely depends on your goals as a trader, on your trading style, and on your tolerance for risk. Forex trading involves far more leverage and far less regulation than stock trading, which makes it both highly lucrative and highly risky. This is by FAR my favorite aspect of trading Forex vs stocks. The ability to make money regardless of which way a particular Forex currency pair is trending is a great asset to the Forex market. What this means is that while you may need 20 stocks to make up a decent ‘watch list’, you may only need 10 currency pairs.
